විදේශීය කිරිපිටි සමාගම්වලට මෙරට ආක්‍රමණය කිරීමට ඉඩ නොතබා දේශීය කිරිගොවියා නගා සිටුවීමට ගත හැකි සෑම පියවරක්ම ගන්නා බව ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන පවසා ඇත. ජනපතිවරයා ඒ බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේ පොළොන්නරුව, අරලගංවිල ප්‍රදේශයේ පැවති ජන හමුවක් අමතමිනි.
ළදරු කිරිපිටි සඳහා සහන ලබා දෙන අතරම පිටරටින් ගෙන්වන අනෙකුත් කිරිපිටිවලට සීමා පනවමින් දේශීය කිරි කර්මාන්තය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවත්, කිරිපිටි ආනයනය සඳහා වාර්ෂිකව ඉතා විශාල මුදලක් වැය කෙරෙන අතර, එය රටේ ආර්ථිකයට දැඩිව බලපා ඇති බවත් ලෝකයේ සංවර්ධනය වූ කිසිදු රටක් අද විදේශීය කිරිපිටි භාවිතා නොකරන බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කර ඇත.
එමෙන්ම අද ශ්‍රී ලංකාව පිටරටින් ගෙන්වන කිරිපිටි වැඩිපුරම භාවිතා කරන රටක් බවට පත්ව ඇති අතර මෙම තත්ත්වය වහා වෙනස්විය යුතු බව ද ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කර ඇත.
