ජනාධිපතිවරයා සෘජු ඡන්දයකින් පත්කර ගත යුතුයි..

විධායක ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ කුමන බලතල ඉවත් කළත්, පළාත් සභාවල බලය ජනාධිපති ධූරය සතුව තිබිය යුතු බවත්, ජනාධිපතිවරයා සෘජු ජනතා ඡන්දයකින් පත්කර ගත යුතු බවත්, ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්‍ෂයේ මතය බව එම පක්‍ෂයේ ලේකම් දුමින්ද දිසානායක පැවසූ බව සඳහන් වේ. එසේම එම ස්ථාවරයට විකල්පව වෙනත් කිසිඳු යෝජනවත් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ශ්‍රීලනිපය එකග නොවන බවත් නිල වශයෙන් විකල්ප යෝජනා ගැන සාකච්ඡා කර නොමැති බවත්, ඔහු පවසා ඇත.

ජනාධිපති ධූරයට පළාත් සභා සම්බන්ධයෙන් බලතල ලබා දී එම තනතුර පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ ඡන්දයෙන් පත්කර ගත යුතු බවට අගමැතිවරයාගේ පාර්ශවයෙන් පැමිණ ඇති යෝජනාව පිළිබඳව විමසීමකදී ලේකම්වරයා මෙලෙස පැවසූ බව සඳහන් වේ.

The President should be made direct by a vote. According to the Secretary of the JVP, Duminda Dissanayake, the SLFP is of the opinion that the President should have the power of provincial councils and that the president should be elected by a direct public vote. He also said that the SLFP does not agree on any other suggestions that are alternative to that stance and has not officially discussed alternate proposals.

When contacted by the secretary of the Prime Minister, the secretary said that the powers vested in the provincial councils should be given to the presidency and the motion should be made in the parliamentary election.
